A história da disciplina escolar francês no Colégio Estadual Campo-grandense (1942-1962)

Abstract

Este trabalho situa-se no campo da História da Educação, mais especificamente em História das Disciplinas Escolares, e tem como principal objetivo investigar a história da disciplina escolar Francês pelo seu funcionamento no curso ginasial do Colégio Estadual Campo-grandense, em Campo Grande, na época, Estado de Mato Grosso, entre 1942 e 1962. Sustenta-se a hipótese de que a presença da disciplina Francês no currículo de ensino secundário brasileiro é legitimada pelo seu caráter eminentemente humanístico e tem nesse caráter a finalidade de seu ensino em um momento histórico específico. Como caminho metodológico, buscou-se a mediação entre o que foi prescrito oficialmente e o realizado em sala de aula pelas práticas de professores. Para tanto foram selecionados como fontes primárias, documentos do arquivo escolar e como fontes secundárias, legislação nacional, estadual, do Colégio Estadual e um manual de didática de Francês, além da fonte oral, entrevistas com exalunas e ex-professoras da escola em questão. Os resultados da pesquisa evidenciaram que, no Colégio Estadual a normatização em sua grande parte orientou as práticas de professores no ensino de Francês e o ensino da língua estava baseado, sobretudo, na gramática. O caráter humanístico da disciplina escolar Francês pode ser observado pelas marcas da disciplina impressas na cultura escolar do Colégio Estadual, a saber: a importância de bem escrever e ler Francês, por meio do aprendizado da norma culta da gramática, com exercícios de ditado, tradução, elaboração e interpretação de textos, memorização de conjugações de verbos e expressões idiomáticas, além da cultura e civilização francesas compreendendo o agir com cortesia, o conhecimento da literatura clássica, da geografia e da história da França.

This research is situated in the camp of the history of education, more specifically in the history of the school subjects, which has as its main objective to investigate the history of French as a schooling subject by its operation in the secondary school course at Colégio Estadual Campo-grandense, in the city of Campo Grande, at that time Mato Grosso State, between 1942 and 1962. It is asserted that the presence of French (as subject) in the curriculum of the Brazilian secondary education is legitimated by its eminent humanistic character, having implicit in this character the purpose of its teaching in an specific historical moment. As a methodological way, it was searched a mediation between what had been officially prescribed and what was executed inside the classrooms by the teachers practices. For this extent there were selected as primary sources, documents from the school files and as secondary sources, the national and the state legislations from Colégio Estadual and also, a manual of French didactic, apart from the oral source, interviews with ex-pupils and ex- teachers of this specific school were performed. The results of this investigation have given evidence that in Colégio Estadual, the legislation in its major part has guided the practices of the teachers in French teaching, and also, that the teaching of this language was based, most of all, on grammar practice. The humanistic character of the school subject – French –can be observed by the marks of the subject printed in the school culture of Colégio Estadual, namely: the importance of the well writing and reading in French, through the apprenticeship of grammar of the cult norm, with exercises of dictation, translation, elaboration and texts interpretation, memorization of verb conjugation and idiomatic expressions, apart from the French culture and civilization comprehending the acting with refined politeness, knowledge of the classic literature, geography and history of France.
