Abstract

This work presents an introduction to the main criteria that characterize the metrizability of topological spaces, highlighting the relevance of the separation and enumerability axioms in analyzing when a topology can be induced by a metric. In this sense, we examine classical metrizability results and present examples of applications, and finally, we highlight Urysohn’s Metrization Theorem, the main result of the text.
