Abstract

This work aims to bring discussions about the religiosities present in Brazil, a country where religious freedom is guaranteed by law, with the state being secular and with different ways of expressing faith. The central objective is to present different narratives about African-based religions and verify whether other religions that affect the Christian faith suffer prejudice. Despite the law guaranteeing freedom of culture or sacredness according to each faith, prejudiced speeches are still part of our society today. Based on interviews and analysis of a 1967 newspaper in Nova Andradina about Candomblé, a religion that is much attacked to this day, it seeks to highlight the history behind religious repression and the speeches that end up perpetuating this version into the unknown, Furthermore, we seek to bring the history of the Candomblé religion in order to demystify the discourses that are linked to it.
