Abstract
The knowledge about the composition, abundance and distribution of species that make up
phytoplankton is relevant for understanding the dynamics of aquatic ecosystems and for
monitoring water quality. Considering the inexistence of information in the area of phycology
and ecology in the city of Aquidauana (MS) and aiming to contribute to expand the knowledge
about the subject in the region, the objective of this study was to carry out a survey and to
verify the seasonal variation of Phytoplankton Chlorophyta in the Lagoa Comprida Natural
Park. The study qualitative and quantitative was conducted between February and November
2019, covering four collections, sampled at three points randomly distributed in the lagoon.
The samples were collected following the plankton net filtering protocol. We registered 45
morphospecies of Chlorophyta, distributed in 19 genera, with predominance of the class
Chlrophyceae and order Sphaeropleales. Of the total number identified, 25 species constitute
new records for the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. Among the analyzed variables, only ammonia
showed a significant correlation with the richness and abundance of Chlorophyta in the study
area.
