Chaco: caracterização, riqueza, diversidade, recursos e interações

Abstract

It is a multidisciplinary book, written by invited experts, comprising chapters that deal with the biophysical aspects, flora, fauna and microlichens of the Chaco, with an emphasis on the Chaco portion that, in Brazil, only occurs in Mato Grosso do Sul. In the chapters devoted to botany, information on internal and external morphology, genetic diversity and the resources available in plant formations in the Brazilian Chaco are presented, including plant-pollinator interactions. Plant species are also presented for the restoration of secondary areas and, with educational objectives, aspects of Biodiversity with suggestions for strategies and uses of teaching materials for the practice of environmental education. 58 researchers participate in this proposal, of which 39 are from UFMS, including professors, students and technicians. UFMS professors work in graduate programs in Plant Biology, Ecology and Conservation, Natural Resources, Science Teaching, Biotechnology and in Biotechnology and Biodiversity. In Brazil, they are the specialists who know the Chaco best in their areas of expertise. The work also counts on the collaboration of researchers from national and foreign institutions.
