Abstract

As we are a state with the second largest concentration of Terena peoples, it urges us to investigate the process of identity construction of the deaf indigenous Terena, resident at the Cachoeirinha Indigenous Post, Miranda-MS. Under the assumption that they are on the margins of hegemonic society in a double exclusion: because they are indigenous and deaf, since there is no discourse that legitimizes them, that inscribes them as a deaf Indian, this book comes from a master's research that aimed problematize the identity constitution process of the deaf subject through narratives of himself and the other, by the subject's subjectivity in describing how he sees himself, how he sees the other (his peers and the white person) and how he believes that the other sees him (his pairs and white).
