MULHERES EMPILHADAS E RESISTÊNCIAS EMPENHADAS: VOZES DE MULHERES INDÍGENAS

Abstract

In many periods and societies, women have been seen as supporting characters in cultural, social, political and literary representations, in addition to being subjected to multiple forms of violence, silencing and invisibility that unfortunately continue to this day. In the meantime, this research starts from the understanding of how social relations have been based on the legacy of the normalization of attacks, aggressions and inferiority directed at women; after all, the subordination and disqualification of the female body is constructed throughout society. In Mulheres Empillhadas, a work published by Brazilian intellectual Patrícia Melo in 2019, the author addresses the issue of violence against women in Brazil, presenting a scenario where the law and the system go in opposite directions when it comes to bodies/subjects that society, in general, in many aspects still considers nonexistent, such as those of indigenous women. In this sense, this research is anchored in the novel in question in order to highlight the multiple forms of violence that establish a relationship between reality and fiction, as well as the search for re-existence that goes against the pile of dead women, and towards confronting the constraints imposed by society, seeking a different perspective from those that have been constructed over centuries so that it is possible to engage in resistance towards women, especially indigenous women. Therefore, analyzing under the light of feminist literary theory or criticism, we start from the studies of Rita Laura Segato, María Lugones, Françoise Vergès and other theorists to substantiate the issue of violence portrayed in the literary work in the face of a real and socio-political context that reinforces the structures of patriarchy in the discourses of our daily lives.
