Colônia São Romão: estudo sociolinguístico

Abstract

The intention of this work is to contribute for the sociolinguistic and lexicology studies, as it values the regional speeches, not only the sul-mato-grossenses but also the northeastern ones, because both are used in the speech of the residents of the region in which this research was carried out. Our goal is to verify the lexical variants that were found in Colônia São Romão and to compare them to the Sul-mato-grossense speech. The methodology which is used, is the one that is usually used in sociolinguistic studies, where the procedures are detailed as well as the delimitation of the setting and the informers, the making up of the questionnaire and the data collect, according to some authors who are mentioned like Hora (2004) and Tarallo (2006). The theoretical basis of this work is directed to sociolinguistic, also according to authors like Alkimim (2005), Bagno (1999), Camacho (2005), Labov (1972), Mattoso Câmara Jr. (1967), Mollica (2004) among others. The lexical theory was composed by authors like Biderman (2001) and Alves (2007). The first chapter is about the history of that region, since the division of Mato Grosso State, which has originated Mato Grosso do Sul, and it goes until the history of Colônia São Romão. The second chapter is mostly about the sociolinguistic and lexical theoretical basis, while the third chapter contains the methodology used in our research. Finally, in the last chapter we have the descriptions and interpretations of the data, followed by the final conclusions.
