O PODCAST 6 MINUTE ENGLISH COMO UM RECURSO DIDÁTICO PARA O ENSINO DE LÍNGUA INGLESA

Abstract

With the advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), digital resources have become increasingly integrated into everyday life, directly impacting education. In this context, the concept of multiliteracies highlights the importance of incorporating different languages in the teaching-learning process. Among digital tools, the podcast emerges as a relevant resource, both in entertainment and in education. This study aims to discuss and reflect on the use of podcasts as a didactic tool in English language teaching, with a special focus on the development of listening comprehension, which remains one of the main challenges faced by Brazilian learners. The research centers on the analysis of the podcast “6 Minute English”, examining its potential as a supportive learning tool due to its accessibility, up-to-date content, and suitability to learners’ needs. The proposal contributes to the debate on innovative methodologies in basic education that promote English learning in a contextualized manner and in tune with contemporary digital practices. The results obtained show that, in general, the “6 Minute English” podcast is viable for classroom assistance, contributing not only to the development of oral comprehension of LI, but also to digital literacy and critical thinking.
