A “OUTRIDADE” NA POESIA SOCIAL E NA METAPOESIA DE FERREIRA GULLAR

Abstract

The present doctoral research aims to continue studies carried out during the master's degree, highlighting mainly the "otherness", a term adopted by Octvaio Paz, in addition to a dialogue with Michel's concept, in the works Dentro da noite veloz (1975), Noises (1987) and Em somewhere nada (2010), by Ferreira Gullar (1930-2016), also taking up some aspects of social poetry and metapoetry. The present doctoral research aims to continue studies carried out during the master's degree, highlighting mainly the "otherness", a term adopted by Octvaio Paz, in the works Dentro da noite veloz (1975), Barulhos (1987) and Em alguma parte alguma (2010), by Ferreira Gullar (1930-2016), also taking up some aspects of social poetry and metapoetry. The relevance of the works mentioned and of the poet himself becomes eminent when we observe the three books chosen to compose the study, which were published at different historical moments: in Dentro da noite veloz, Gullar brought together poems written between the years 1962 and 1974, which represent moments of protest and remembrance, composed during the military regime. Subsequently, in Barulhos, there is the production of several metapoems and a reflection on poetic making, where the author demonstrates a posture quite critical of the world of letters. Em alguma parte alguma, which will occupy a good part of this study, the author begins to reflect mainly on existential questions and returns to questions of metapoetry, with raptures of social issues. From these works it is possible to reflect on the "otherness" in the author's poetry, social issues, lexical choices, language and metalanguage. The selection of these three works allows us to observe the relationship between social engagement, metapoetic reflection, and existential questions, which mark the most important aspects of the author’s poetics. Despite the numerous existing studies on the author and his work, this study is also justified by the singular choice of the corpus and the focus on the perspective of “otherness”. These studies are part of the research line Literary Historiography: Reception and Criticism.
