Abstract
The main objective of this article is to present an overview of the fundamental role of digital
technologies in teaching Portuguese as a second language (L2) to deaf students. Through a
netnographic study, the research seeks to identify the most commonly used technological tools
and their contributions to teaching and learning processes. Based on a bibliographic review and
the analysis of pedagogical practices, the aim is to understand how the use of these technologies
can help overcome linguistic barriers and promote the educational inclusion of deaf individuals in
learning written Portuguese (L2). Additionally, the research proposes some bilingual activities
utilizing these technologies. This study is grounded in the works of scholars in Deaf Studies and
Assistive Technology, such as Quadros and Karnopp (2004), Karnopp (2006), Müller and Karnopp
(2015), Campello (2008), Campello and Rezende (2014), and Mill (2013), who have significantly
contributed to discussions concerning deaf education and assistive technologies.
