Levantamento historiográfico sobre a representação das feiticeiras na historiografia brasileira

Abstract

This article aims to explore and analyze the representations of Latin witches in ancient Roman literature, with an emphasis on the construction of the collective imagination around the image of the witch and the concept of magic. This will be done based on a historiographical survey on the subject of Brazilian sources, using sources from classical authors to explain initial themes such as the origins of studies on magic in a critical way and its place in History. This analysis will be carried out based on the dialogue between the sources, focusing on a linear and chronological approach on the conceptualization of magic and the role of the witch until its literary representation. This work also brings together and briefly describes the scholars on the subject in Brazil, as well as their main works. The ultimate goal is to better understand the historical implications of the concept of witches that still exists today and to discuss the meanings of such representations in literature, as well as to categorize the different studies and definitions of this topic with the support of authors who work on this subject in Brazil, contributing to the expansion of these studies in the national academic environment.
