dc.description.abstractSupported by the theoretical and methodological framework of French and Brazilian Discourse Analysis (henceforth DA), this dissertation investigated the discursive functioning of Carlos Latuff’s cartoons based on the production conditions of the impeachment against former president Dilma Rousseff, carried out in 2016. The general objective of the research was to analyze how the cartoons represent the theme of the 2016 impeachment, based on a discursive corpus composed of 15 cartoons selected from Brazilian alternative media outlets. To achieve this, we established the following specific objectives: 1) Understand the discursive functioning of cartoons in general; 2) Analyze how Carlos Latuff’s cartoons function discursively, seeking to identify their regularities and meaning effects; 3) Analyze and discuss the representations of the coup d’état against president Dilma Rousseff, and finally, 4) Discuss the discursive nature of the possible relationships between Latuff’s cartoons and the hegemonic interpretation of the Brazilian bourgeois media regarding the 2016 coup d’état. In other words, we were interested in understanding the discursive memory that informs the cartoons studied in a given socio historical context. The impeachment of Dilma Rousseff, justified by "fiscal maneuvers," is explored through the analysis of cartoons, which played an important role in public debate by expressing both criticism and support. The research addressed fundamental and constitutive aspects of the cartoons: their discursive functioning, their comic nature, and their relationship with politics. Among the constitutive elements of Carlos Latuff’s cartoons, irony and discursive ethos are regular in his art, producing meaning effects. The analysis sought to understand how Latuff’s cartoons generate meaning and their discursive implications, proposing that they reflect class struggles and ideological stances. This study, grounded in Materialist Discourse Analysis, considers the opacity of language and the relationship between what is said and what is unsaid. The dissertation is structured into three chapters: DA theory, the context of the 2016 coup, and the analysis of the cartoons, followed by final considerations and bibliographic references.-

dc.description.resumoApoiada no aparato teórico metodológico da Análise de Discurso francesa e brasileira (AD doravante), esta dissertação investigou o funcionamento discursivo das charges de Carlos Latuff a partir das condições de produção do impeachment contra a ex-presidenta Dilma Rousseff perpetrado em 2016. O objetivo geral da pesquisa consistiu em analisar como as charges representam o tema do impeachment de 2016, a partir de um corpus discursivo constituído de 15 charges recortadas de mídias alternativas brasileiras. Para tal, erigimos os seguintes objetivos específicos, a saber: 1) Compreender o modo de funcionamento discursivo das charges em geral; 2) Analisar como as charges de Carlos Latuff funcionam discursivamente, procurando levantar as suas regularidades e efeitos de sentido; 3) Analisar e discutir as representações sobre o golpe de Estado contra a presidenta Dilma Rousseff, e, finalmente, 4) Discutir a natureza discursiva das possíveis relações entre as charges de Latuff e a interpretação hegemônica da mídia burguesa brasileira sobre o Golpe de Estado de 2016. Noutros termos, interessou-nos compreender a memória discursiva que informam as charges estudadas em contexto sócio-histórico determinado. O impeachment de Dilma Rousseff, justificado em virtude de "pedaladas fiscais", é explorado por meio de textos chargísticos, que desempenharam um papel importante no debate público ao expressar ora críticas ora aderências. A pesquisa abordou aspectos fundamentais e constitutivos das charges: seu funcionamento discursivo, a comicidade e sua relação com o político. Dentre os elementos constitutivos das charges de Carlos Latuff, a ironia e o ethos discursivo são regulares em sua arte, produzindo efeitos de sentido. A análise buscou compreender como as charges de Latuff produzem sentido e suas implicações discursivas, propondo que elas refletem lutas de classes e posicionamentos ideológicos. Este estudo, inscrito na Análise de Discurso Materialista, considera a opacidade da linguagem e a relação entre o dito e o não dito. A dissertação está estruturada em três capítulos: teoria da AD, contexto do golpe de 2016, e análise das charges, seguidos de considerações finais e referências bibliográficas.pt_BR
