REPRESENTATIVIDADE FEMININA NOS TRÊS PODERES NO ESTADO DE MATO GROSSO DO SUL: ANÁLISE DE SEUS REFLEXOS NO COMBATE À VIOLÊNCIA DOMÉSTICA

Abstract

One of the objectives of this research is to analyze public policies, laws, and judgments, between 2016 and 2022, related to domestic violence within the state of Mato Grosso do Sul to understand how gender issues impact the topic. The methodology contains a qualitative quantitative approach and will be based on the Brazilian Federal Constitution, analysis of data from the Superior Electoral Court and the National Council of Justice. Articles from platforms like SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) about gender inequality and the relationship of domestic violence in the country will be analyzed, as there is a preconception that women would be solely related to household care, hindering them from having the same opportunities as men. The research is justified because, although there are laws and public policies on domestic violence against women, it is hypothesized that their effectiveness is (co)related to the low female representation in the country's three spheres of power. It is assumed that existing laws and public policies are formulated, executed, and judged by a predominantly male group, which impacts the effectiveness of gender equality. Thus, it is concluded that, until the present moment, female representation in the three branches of power is minority, hence, the public policies formulated/implemented/judged by women and aimed at serving them are also low. For these reasons, based on Bartlett's research (2020), it is necessary for more women to be involved in the three branches of power, which would lead to greater awareness and identification with the issue of domestic violence.
