ALUNOS EM SITUAÇÃO PRIVAÇÃO DE LIBERDADE: a educação sob o olhar do adolescente em conflito com a lei

Abstract

The subject of this research is the education of adolescents who, because they are in conflict with the law, are or have been deprived of their liberty, serving a detention order, a measure provided for by law in article 112 of the Statute of the Child and Adolescent. The paper presents a documentary survey of the CASA Foundation (Socio-Educational Assistance Center for Adolescents), which is one of Brazil's institutions for socio-educational measures, and the perspectives of two young people who have served their sentences in one of the institution's units, with the aim of clarifying how the educational system works within the socio-educational establishment responsible for the guardianship of children and adolescents during their deprivation of liberty. Thus, through the documentary survey and the reports of the research subjects, it was possible to delineate the relationship between the bureaucratic organization of the institution and the reality experienced by the adolescents it serves in relation to educational activities. It is necessary to look at education from all realities and contexts, so that we get closer and closer to a less unjust and unequal society. The results of the survey showed that the adolescents recognize the importance of school education as a fundamental factor for their lives after the period of internment, with a view to their subsequent resocialization. Only through education and awareness-raising will it be possible to emancipate the individual to have more opportunities outside the institution in which they served their socio-educational sentence, as well as not reoffending.
