Abstract

The village is a special place, a unique space, where you breathe culture and its way of being, but with multiple diversities, where each ethnic group has its cultural and work world, in addition to coexistence with the environment that is part of this multiplicity. The textbook Knowing the Knowledge of the 1st year considers the development of essential components for the literacy of the students, portraying a little of each inhabitant of the village and its culture, strengthening the feeling of belonging of the younger ones. It was developed by the teachers of the Koinukunen Indigenous Municipal School, in the São João village. The book works on phonemic awareness, fluency in oral reading, vocabulary development, text comprehension and mainly registers and systematizes local indigenous traditional knowledge, making indigenous students literate within their perspective and life context.
