Quando os professores adoecem: Demandas para a psicologia e a educação

Abstract

Today we are experiencing the precariousness of the teacher's work, the little financial investment in education and the devaluation of the teacher, among other problems, which brings a lot of suffering and illness. Instability, competition among peers, excessive workload and productivity, are some of the new work endeavors that teachers have to face on a daily basis. It is not possible to turn a blind eye to understanding the feelings expressed by this situation, so we understand that this is a theme to be understood also by professionals in Psychology and Education. It is in this sense that this collection was organized, with the objective of presenting readers with research that focuses on the teacher's illness / suffering. The collection is organized in three parts: a) education, development of the psyche and suffering, b) survey of productions about suffering / illness; and, c) giving teachers a voice and everyday suffering. All chapters are the result of observations, interviews and questionnaires involving teachers, who, through their reports, present to the reader how much they are currently suffering.
