As pessoas idosas e suas representações sociais sobre sexualidade e envelhecimento

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como temas o envelhecimento, a sexualidade e as relações de gênero. Visa investigar e compreender as representações sociais que a pessoa idosa tem sobre sexualidade na velhice em uma perspectiva de gênero. A fundamentação teórica histórico cultural trouxe contribuições importantes sobre a constituição dos sujeitos e de suas identidades, bem como a respeito do processo de aprendizagem e interiorização de conhecimentos. Apoiou-se na Teoria das Representações Sociais, que revela como o sujeito constrói conhecimento e como este conhecimento interfere em seu comportamento, permitindo entender a maneira que os conhecimentos produzidos na sociedade repercutem na constituição identitária das pessoas idosas e nas suas maneiras de viver e compreender a sexualidade e relações de gênero na velhice. O trabalho também foi embasado pelos estudos de gênero, que possibilitam apreender as relações sociais estabelecidas entre mulheres e homens, assim como as relações de poder que envolvem os gêneros. Respaldou-se ainda em estudos antropológicos recentes sobre gênero, sexualidade e envelhecimento. O arcabouço teórico-metodológico desta pesquisa, composto pela Teoria das Representações Sociais e Teoria Histórico-cultural, propicia a superação de compreensões dicotômicas sobre a relação entre o sujeito e a sociedade, o que permite entender os aspectos individuais e plurais na construção do conhecimento. A realização da pesquisa se deu em uma Associação de Moradores e em um Lar de Longa Permanência. Ao todo oito pessoas participaram do estudo, sendo quatro homens e quatro mulheres. Foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas para identificar as concepções e conhecimentos dos sujeitos a respeito do envelhecimento, sexualidade e relações de gênero nas vivências afetivas e sexuais. Ao final, as entrevistas foram transcritas e posteriormente analisadas por meio da metodologia de análise de conteúdo. Foi possível evidenciar nas falas das/os entrevistadas/os os temas de maior relevância e, assim, as categorias que permitiram a análise das representações sociais sobre envelhecimento, sexualidade e relações de gênero.

ABSTRACT - The themes of this work are aging, sexuality and gender relations. It Aims to investigate and understand the social representations that the Elder has about sexuality in old age from a gender perspective. The historical-cultural theoretical foundation made important contributions on the constitution of subjects and their identities, as well as about the process of learning and internalizing knowledge. It leaned on the Theory of Social Representations, which reveals how the subject builds knowledge and how this knowledge interferes in their behavior, allowing understand the way that the knowledge produced in society have repercussions on identity construction of older people and their ways of living and understand sexuality and gender relations in old age. The work was also grounded by gender studies, which allow to understand social relations established between women and men, as well as power relations involving the genders. It is still backed in recent anthropological studies on gender, sexuality and aging. The theoretical and methodological framework of this research, consisting of the Theory of Social Representations and Cultural-historical theory, provides overcoming dichotomous insights into the relationship between the subject and society, which allows us to understand the individual and plural aspects in the construction of knowledge. The research took place in a neighborhood association and a rest home. Altogether eight people participated in the study, four men and four women. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to identify the concepts and knowledge of the subjects about aging, sexuality and gender relations in affective and sexual experiences. Finally, the interviews were transcribed and analyzed using content analysis methodology. The results showed in the speech of the interviewed the most relevant issues and thus the categories that allowed the analysis of social representations about aging, sexuality and gender relations.
