ANÁLISE FUNCIONAL DO COMPORTAMENTO E O CONSUMO ABUSIVO DE ÁLCOOL: UMA REVISÃO BIBLIOGRÁFICA NARRATIVA.

Abstract

Alcohol Use Disorder, as a historical, social, and cultural phenomenon in Brazil, has impacts on public health expenditures, resulting from the treatment of the alcoholic, or from its effects such as in traffic accidents and domestic violence. Furthermore, it is associated with various physical effects, such as: alcoholic hepatitis, peripheral neuropathy, hypertension, and others, or behavioral effects: loss of control, risk behavior, and others. Concerning this phenomenon, Functional Analysis of Behavior makes it possible to understand the environmental and historical variables that establish and maintain the abusive use of alcohol, considering aspects such as social reinforcers, reinforcement contingencies, and the individual's learning history. The present work aims to describe, from a behavioral perspective and based on a narrative bibliographic review of the literature, variables linked to alcohol abuse. It is expected that this description will favor the composition of a Molar Functional Analysis of abusive alcohol consumption behavior. In addition, the results indicated that abusive alcohol consumption can be maintained by Positive and Negative Reinforcement. The frameworks highlighted specific situational and social antecedents that act as evocative antecedent stimuli. The study considers the variables involved in the maintenance of this behavior, contributing to the confrontation of this public health problem.
