MAUS-TRATOS, ABANDONO DE ANIMAIS E AS POLÍTICAS PÚBLICAS NA CIDADE DE CORUMBÁ

Abstract

This paper addresses the reality of animal abandonment and mistreatment in the urban context of Corumbá-MS, highlighting its causes, consequences, and possible solutions. Based on a local overview, it analyzes the role of public authorities, especially their policies related to population control, awareness campaigns, and environmental education. The role of NGOs, civil society, universities, and current legislation is also examined. The research highlights the impacts of abandonment on public health, the socioeconomic and cultural challenges to the effectiveness of these policies, as well as the importance of using technology, formal education, and sustainable tourism. The study proposes the strengthening of integrated actions focused on rehabilitation, enforcement, responsible adoption, and animal ethics, emphasizing the need for collective and continuous commitment to animal welfare.
