O DIREITO À EDUCAÇÃO DO MIGRANTE INTERNACIONAL EM ESCOLAS NO CONTEXTO DE FRONTEIRA

Abstract

The right to education is a universal human right, and in Brazil, the Federal Constitution, the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education, and the Migration Law, among other regulations, consolidate this right for international migrants regardless of the individual's migratory status. However, the reality in border regions, such as the city of Corumbá portrayed here, still presents challenges, such as the lack of adequate infrastructure, language and cultural barriers, and the scarcity of resources to fully welcome migrants. In this article, we present some initiatives of the Municipal Government of Corumbá to serve and ensure the right to education in its school system for international migrants who have historically frequented its classrooms. We present the national and municipal legislation that covers the right to education, discussing its advances and the need to expand the security of this right.
