Regionalismos em comunidade gaúcha: o caso de Dourados (MS)

Abstract

Este estudo apresenta uma análise do vocabulário de 9 informantes pertencentes a um grupo de pessoas naturais do Estado Rio Grande do Sul, vivendo atualmente em Dourados (MS), freqüentadores de um Centro de Tradições Gaúchas-CTG. O estudo partiu da hipótese de que a influência da variação lexical na fala dos gaúchos é mais preservadas nos adultos. Os jovens, devido à escola e a comunidade, perderam, de certo modo, as marcas do vocabulário de sua origem, apesar de já levarem carga considerável de influência de outras variedades lingüísticas, por estarem vivendo fora do Rio Grande do Sul. O objetivo da pesquisa foi averiguar e levantar as variantes nos aspectos lexicais e fonéticos da língua dessa comunidade. A metodologia, para obtenção dos dados, foi elaborado um questionário lexical que serviu de roteiro das entrevistas que foram gravadas em fitas cassetes e transcritos os dados, organizados em campos lexicais. Para a realização deste estudo, consideramos variáveis lingüísticas e, também, extralinguísticas, fundamentando-nos para a análise dos resultados, em Teorias da Variação lingüística (Labov, 1996). Posteriormente, procedeu-se à análise quantitativa das variantes, correlacionando-as com sua ocorrência entre os grupos considerados. Os resultados obtidos com a análise variacionista da comunidade investigada revelaram que dentre as variáveis extralingüísticas, o contexto "faixa etária" dos falantes - com idade acima de 56 anos - mostraram-se mais preservadores do vocabulário de sua origem, enquanto que os falantes mais jovens - com idade de 18 a 35 anos - tendem mais as inovações lingüísticas.

This study presents an analysis of the vocabulary used by 9 informers belonging to a group of people born and raised in the State Rio Grande do Sul, at present residing the town of Dourados, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, who are regulars at a Center of "Gaucho" Traditions - CTG. The study is based on the hypothesis that the influence of the lexical variation in the speech of the gauchos is most preserved by adults. Youngsters, due to school and community, have lost, as so to speak, the marks of the vocabulary of their origin, in spite of having received a considerable load of influence from other linguistic varieties, due to their livelihood away from the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The objective of the research was to verify and pinpointing the variants in the lexical and phonetic aspects of the language of that community. The methodology used for obtaining data was the elaboration of a lexical questionnaire that served guideline for the interviews that were recorded on cassette tapes and the data were transcribed and organized by lexical fields. For the accomplishment of this study, we considered linguistic and non linguistic variables, based on Theories of the linguistic Variation (Labov, 1996) for the analysis of the results. Later, a quantitative analysis of the variants was made, correlating them with their occurrence among the considered groups. The results obtained from the variation analysis of the community investigated revealed that among the non-linguistic variables, the context "age group" of the speakers - aged above 56 - were those who preserved their original vocabulary the most, while the younger speakers - aged from 18 to 35 - are more open to linguistic innovations.
