O trabalho rural assalariado por uma perspectiva étnico-racial

Abstract

This article aims to analyze wage labor in rural Brazil from an ethno-racial perspective, exploring the historical origins of this workforce and the relationships between race and class present in the structuring of these labor relations. To achieve this goal, I will employ a research process based on bibliographic materials, critical analysis of data collected from the 2017 Agricultural Census of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), as well as personal experience. The present article is organized as follows: first, a bibliographic review of the historical formation of rural wage labor, seeking to identify the ethno-racial origins of Brazilian rural wage workers. Second, through a more quantitative analysis, I will develop a critique of the statistical data available on the race/ethnicity of the wage labor force employed in rural work.
