Tourism, as an economic activity, grows in the Brazilian Pantanal, where there is predominance for more than 200 years of land private property for bovine cattle creation. In overlapping or substitution to the cattle industry, the tourism acts on the farms dynamics, valuing and appropriating the natural and cultural patrimony, intervening on the interpersonal relations, as well as on the people’s perception of environment, composing a scene in transformation. In the observed changes, prominence for the woman’s paper in the Pantanal society, whose work reached greater importance on the farms. They develop essential activities for the tourism as the services of cleaning rooms and cooking for tourists. The study object of this essay is to diagnosis the territoriality of tourism on a specific region of the Pantanal through the look of the women who live and work in the farms. Called as Rio Negro Region, this portion of the Pantanal exists from the space, historical and cultural reference for the population that inhabits the farms of that place. Using the cultural boarding of Geography, whose approach is the construction of a knowledge of the social realities considering the material determination, historical and geographic of the people that produce it, this essay approaches the subject from a view of the anthropology of tourism, because the aspects of the culture and the familiar relations are basic for understanding this object. Through the participant observation, the feminine universe in four farms that act with tourism in the region was diagnosised, as well as not-directive interviews had been made with familiar proprietors, its employees and their families. As result of the research, it is possible to say that the feminine work in the tourism farms is arduous, therefore demands them physical force as well as courage to deal to the adversities of environment, as snakes and mosquitos, and for being far from its families that live in the city. On the other hand, tourism increases offers of feminine work in the farms, what propitiates greater participation of the women in the familiar income and their autonomy to invest in quality of life and education to its children and grandsons. Its work is valued by its husbands and the proprietors, but for the majority of tourists it remains the figure of the cattle man as the expression of Pantanal culture. The technological insertions and the tourism contribute with the women quality of life, therefore facilitate the access and the communication with its familiar ones. On the other hand, tourism limits its familiar and social relations and also between neighboring farms, therefore it imposes a rhythm of work and rest differentiated of the traditional pastoral regimen. This work still offers some trends about the tourism territoriality in the Rio Negro Region.
