Abstract

Sporotrichosis is a zoonotic disease transmitted through traumatic inoculation of the skin by a fungus of the Sporothrix genus, which is considered a saprophyte and cosmopolitan. Among the species in this genus, only S. brasiliensis, S. schenckii, and S. humicola have the ability to cause feline sporotrichosis. In the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the first reported cases of human and feline sporotrichosis were announced in Corumbá and Ladário in 2016, highlighting the potential for the spread of the disease in the state. The main clinical manifestations of the disease include localized cutaneous, disseminated cutaneous, lymphocutaneous, and extracutaneous forms, with the cutaneous form being the most commonly observed in cats. The diagnosis of feline sporotrichosis is based on the correlation of clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory data. The treatment of sporotrichosis is considered challenging. This work aims to report a case of feline sporotrichosis treated at HOVET-UFMS, describing the clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory changes observed in this disease
