Foucault: ferramentas na produção científica em educação: um olhar a partir das teses de doutorado

Abstract

Esta tese apresenta um inventário da apropriação de obra de Michel Foucault nas teses de doutorado na área de educação no Brasil, no período de 1999 a 2010, disponíveis no Portal Domínio Público. A hipótese que deu origem à pesquisa foi que a obra “Vigiar e punir: nascimento da prisão” (1975/1999c) é a obra do autor mais utilizada pela área da educação no país. A partir do estudo de recorrência, com dados quantitativos obtidos, foi comprovado que foi esta a obra mais utilizada, apresentando um índice 79% de ocorrência nas teses. Pelas especificidades do estudo foi necessário utilizar alguns postulados de Orlandi (1984), Pêcheux (1969), Compagnon (1996), Deleuze (1962) e Grafton (1998) realizando assim a interlocução teórica e metodológica com a área da linguística. Dentre os resultados, destaca-se que Foucault aparece nesses relatórios por intermédio de citações e da utilização de segmentos de texto retirados da obra. A projeção da obra se dá nos temas relacionados a Políticas Educacionais, História da Educação ligadas às Instituições e às Individualidades, utilizando com maior frequência as seguintes partes da obra: O panoptismo, O corpo dos condenados, O exame e Os corpos dóceis, cada uma com pelo menos 10 citações. Foram também apresentadas as estratégias utilizadas para inclusão das citações nas teses, bem como a projeção dos contextos em que foram utilizadas, transformando-se assim em ferramenta confirmativa das realidades analisadas.

ABSTRACT - This thesis presents an inventory of the appropriation of the work of Michel Foucault in doctoral theses in the field of education in Brazil, from 1999 to 2010, available at Portal Domínio Público. The hypothesis that gave rise to the study was that the book Discipline and punish: the birth of the prison (1975/1999c) is the most used book by field of education in the country. From the study of recurrence of the quantitative data obtained it has been proven that it was the most used book with occuring in 79% of the theses. Due to the specifics of the study it was necessary to use some postulates of Orlandi (1984), Pêcheux (1969), Compagnon (1996), Deleuze (1962), and Grafton (1998) thus performing theoretical and methodological interlocution with the area of Linguistics. Among the results Foucault appears in these reports through quotations and some excerpts from the book. The projection of the work takes place in topics related to Educational Policy, History of Education, Institutions and Individuals concentrating maily in: Panopticism, The body of the condemned, The examination and Docile bodies, with at least 10 segments from each. The strategies used for inclusion of quotations in the theses were also observed, as well as the strategies used for the inclusion of the quotations, thus becoming a tool that confirms the realities analyzed.
