dc.description.abstractThe main objective of this research paper is to analyze the representation of the female figure through the works of the Italian Baroque painters Artemisia Gentileschi and Caravaggio. In particular, a comparative study will be conducted between two works that both painters have in common, which refer to the Catholic biblical narrative of Judith, where she beheads Holofernes in order to save and defend the city of Bethulia. The aim is to analyze the two versions of the paintings the female version and the male version and compare how the female figure was represented by the two painters. Through the analysis of the two paintings, as well as the life trajectories of Artemisia and Caravaggio, it is possible to conduct a comparative study between the two works. It is important to highlight that researching the life trajectories of the two artists was crucial for understanding the details of the two paintings. This study leads us to reflect on the achievement of female protagonism, where women began to be seen as protagonists and no longer merely as complements. Keywords: Artemisia Gentileschi. Caravaggio. dc.description.resumoO presente trabalho de pesquisa tem como principal objetivo fazer uma análise da representação da figura feminina através das obras dos pintores do barroco italiano Artemísia Gentileschi e Caravaggio. Sobretudo, será feito um estudo entre duas obras que os pintores têm em comum, onde as quais se referem a narrativa bíblica católica de Judite, onde ela degola Holofernes a fim de salvar e defender a cidade de Betúlia. O intuito é analisar as duas versões dos quadros, a versão feminina e a masculina, e fazer essa análise entre como a figura feminina foi representada pelos dois pintores. Por meio da análise dos dois quadros, bem como, a partir da trajetória de vida de Artemísia e Caravaggio, é possível fazer o estudo comparativo entre as duas obras. É importante destacar que pesquisar a trajetória de vida dos dois artistas foi de vital importância para a compreensão acerca dos detalhes das duas obras. Palavras-chave: Artemísia Gentileschi.
