Identidade regional e pintura de paisagem em Mato Grosso do Sul

Abstract

Esta pesquisa pretende retomar a discussão do conceito de regionalismo proposto pela teoria crítica a partir da categoria histórico-artística da paisagem. De larga tradição na historiografia da arte brasileira, a pintura de paisagem esteve sempre associada à necessidade de se forjar uma imagem de Nação, desde a criação da Academia Imperial de Belas Artes, tendo o projeto estético as mesmas bases do projeto político brasileiro. Delineada esta tradição, o trabalho volta-se para a produção artística de Mato Grosso do Sul. Partiu-se da hipótese de que haveria um conceito de arte regional configurando uma imagem do Estado assentada na paisagem natural abundante e exótica, e que teria havido uma mudança nesta representação a partir dos anos 1980, com a criação do Estado, a partir da divisão geopolítica de Mato Grosso. A pesquisa concluiu que há uma continuidade na associação da paisagem natural a uma identidade cultural local. Discute-se aqui estas questões, partindo da análise de obras, classificadas como pintura de paisagem, existentes no Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Mato Grosso do Sul – MARCO e em acervos particulares.

ABSTRACT - This research intends to resume the discussion of the concept of regionalism proposed by critical theory from the category of historical and artistic landscape. By long tradition in the historiography of Brazilian art, landscape painting has always been associated with the need to forge an image of the nation, since the creation of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, having the same design aesthetic foundations of the political project in Brazil. Outlined in this tradition, the work turns to the artistic production of Mato Grosso do Sul started from the hypothesis that there would be a concept of setting up a regional art image of the state settled in the natural landscape and abundant exotic, and it would have been a change in this representation from the year 1980 with the creation of the state, from the geopolitical division of Mato Grosso. The work can conclude that there is continuity in the association of the natural landscape to a local cultural identity. This paper discusses these issues, analyzing the works classified as landscape painting, existing at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Mato Grosso do Sul - MARCO and private collections.
