This experience report describes a teaching and outreach project aimed at training adolescents in first aid and respond to urgent and emergency situations in the school environment. Led by the PET Nursing group, the initiative was structured in three stages and involved nursing students actively participating under faculty guidance. Initially, PET members underwent training from health professionals in a theoretical and practical course to prepare them to act as multipliers. In the second stage, this knowledge was applied in workshops with primary school pupils from a state school, using educational booklets, demonstrations and practical simulations with mannequins. The final phase included activities at a university event and intergroup training with other PETs. A total of 105 people were trained. The training covered victim assessment, basic life support, procedures for dealing with fainting, burns, bleeding, seizures, drowning, choking, and cardiorespiratory arrest, as well as the distinction between urgent and emergency services. The results showed high levels of engagement among participants, who emphasised the clarity of the presentations and their involvement in practical exercises, as well as the social relevance of the topic. The proposal positively impacted the civic education of adolescents and helped to consolidate a culture of prevention. It also contributed to strengthening the bond between the university and the community. It can be concluded that extension activities of this nature are effective in health education and are essential for fostering youth leadership in critical situations.-
