Envelhecimento populacional: Estudo de caso em Campo Grande - MS

Abstract

This study analyzed the process of population aging in the municipality of Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, highlighting the socio-spatial impacts and the challenges for urban planning and public policies aimed at the elderly population. The research was developed through a bibliographic and documentary review, using data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), PLANURB documents, and studies on aging, public health, urban mobility, and accessibility. The results show the growth of the elderly population in the state capital and demonstrate that aging occurs unevenly across the territory, reflecting socioeconomic differences among urban regions. Challenges related to access to health services, public transportation, accessibility, and the maintenance of public leisure spaces were also identified. It is concluded that population aging requires long-term urban planning and the expansion of public policies capable of ensuring social inclusion, quality of life, and adequate access to urban services for the elderly population.
