dc.description.abstractThis research investigates how contemporary Catholics negotiate the sacredness of religious images generated by artificial intelligence. Through netnography in online Catholic forums, a survey of 25 young Catholics, semi-structured interviews, and semiotic analysis of AI-generated images, the research demonstrates that the resistance emerges from multiple overlapping dimensions. These include the disruption of the abductive chains that allow for the recognition of divine agency in the image; the definition of art by qualities that AI does not consistently guarantee; the tension between anthropocentric and demonological cosmologies regarding the nature of AI; and an inadequacy of category, where algorithms cannot participate in the “cooperation with grace” essential to sacred art.-

dc.description.resumoEsta pesquisa investiga como católicos contemporâneos negociam a sacralidade de imagens religiosas geradas por inteligência artificial. Através de netnografia em fóruns católicos online, survey com 25 jovens católicos, entrevistas semiestruturadas e análise semiótica de imagens geradas por inteligência artificial, a pesquisa demonstra que a resistência emerge de múltiplas dimensões sobrepostas, como a ruptura das cadeias abdutivas que permitem reconhecer agência divina na imagem; definição de arte por qualidades que a IA não garante consistentemente; tensão entre cosmologias antropocêntrica e demonológica sobre a natureza da IA; e inadequação de categoria, onde algoritmos não podem participar da "cooperação com a graça" essencial à arte sacra.pt_BR
