EFICÁCIA DA REVASCULARIZAÇÃO PULPAR EM COMPARAÇÃO À APICIFICAÇÃO EM DENTES TRAUMATIZADOS COM NECROSE PULPAR E RIZOGÊNESE INCOMPLETA: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA

Abstract

Pulp revascularization and apexification have as their main objective the preservation of the tooth in the oral cavity. Revascularization seeks to promote complete root development, while apexification aims at the formation of an apical barrier through successive changes of intracanal medication, subsequently allowing the obturation of the root canals. The present study aimed to carry out a literature review to verify the efficacy and predictability of pulp revascularization treatment compared to apexification treatments in necrotic teeth with incomplete rhizogenesis affected by dental trauma. This is a longitudinal and retrospective bibliographic review, in which scientific articles available in databases such as Medline, PubMed, BBO, Lilacs, SciELO, and Google Scholar were analyzed. For the selection of studies, specific descriptors combined using the Boolean operators AND/OR were used. The clinical, radiographic, and histological findings obtained in this review demonstrated that pulp revascularization presented better results in relation to the efficacy and predictability of the treatment in necrotic teeth with incomplete rhizogenesis affected by dental trauma, when compared to apexification protocols.
