CATEGORIAS CENTRAIS DO EXISTENCIALISMO SARTRIANO: UMA APRESENTAÇÃO A PARTIR DE O EXISTENCIALISMO É UM HUMANISMO

Abstract

In Existentialism Is Humanism, Jean-Paul Sartre emphatically argues in favor of the radical freedom of human beings, who, as existing beings, are completely responsible for the elaboration of their subjectivities in their relations with the world. He refutes the criticism that his existentialist conception implies a type of individualism. For this philosopher, human subjectivity is not restricted to exclusively individual desires, projects, and aspirations, but is characterized, in reality, by intersubjectivity. Anguished and abandoned, human beings make choices that concern not only themselves, but also society and, in a universal sense, all of humanity. In our study, presented in this article, we examine the social dimension of Sartre's existentialist proposal.
