dc.description.abstractABSTRACT In the Pedagogy course at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul – UFMS, Aquidauana campus, we undertake a mandatory internship of conception (observation) and experience (conduction) starting in the 5th semester. Our experiences during the internships have shown that this rewarding experience is part of the right choice for a career in teaching. Our observations during the internships, especially regarding music in children's learning, caught our attention and showed that this art goes beyond words and becomes a powerful form of emotional and social expression. To contribute to the elaboration of this writing, we used several articles published on digital platforms and authors in the field such as: Araújo (2010), Bianchi (2012), Gohn and Stavracas (2010), among others. Music not only aids in socialization, but is also a key to cognitive development, as sound stimuli are essential to strengthen neural connections. We highlight the rich diversity of Brazilian music, which is a reflection of indigenous, African and European influences, forming a vibrant cultural mosaic. We also discussed how music is used in schools, where it helps to create habits and facilitate the memorization of content. We concluded that, despite its recognized importance in educational legislation, the practice of music education often does not connect with the reality of students, losing its transformative potential.-
