Sofrimento psíquico e cultura acadêmica: a escuta psicanalítica como estratégia de cuidado na UFMS

Abstract

This research analyzes the implementation of psychoanalytic clinical listening devices at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), focusing on the mental health care of students. The study starts from the extension project Escuta UFMS, created in 2021, which offers voluntary services provided by psychologists, initially aimed at Psychology students from the Faculty of Human Sciences (FACH). In 2023, the proposal expanded with the creation of the Laboratory of Listening and Psychological Support (LEAP), which began to integrate supervised internships and also serve students from the Faculty of Dentistry (FAODO), the Integrated Health Institute (INISA), and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (FAMEZ). The central objective of this study is to investigate the effects of the psychoanalytic device in individual and group care contexts, as well as to analyze interventions based on clinical listening. It seeks to understand how these practices impact the academic culture of the courses served and promote transformations in university relationships, aiming at the promotion of mental health in the academic environment. The research is based on psychoanalysis, especially Lacan's theory, articulating concepts such as desire, lack, discourse, and psychic suffering. The adopted methodology followed the principles of discourse analysis, with the construction of categories from the material produced in clinical care carried out between August and December 2024, taking students' reports as a field of listening and interpretation. The focus was not on quantification, but on the symbolic and discursive elaboration of the meanings that emerged in the subjects' statements. The results point to the intensification of feelings of inadequacy in the face of academic demands, as well as the effacement of the subjective dimension in university experiences. Psychoanalytic listening proved to be a powerful tool for welcoming suffering, constructing clinical interventions, and suggesting institutional actions more sensitive to the singularity of individuals. The study contributed to reflections on university psychological services and public policies, integrating theory and practice into strategies more sensitive to the needs of the academic community.
