dc.description.abstractObjective: To report a clinical case of attempted femicide resulting in mandibular fracture. Case report: A 46-year-old female patient, without comorbidities, attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma Surgery Service of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul after physical assault and rape. On physical examination, the patient presented edema on the face accompanied by ecchymosis and abrasions associated with occlusal alteration and pain during mandibular movements. Computed tomography of the face revealed fractures in the left mandibular body and contralateral condylar head. The treatment consisted of reduction and fixation of the mandibular body fracture associated with conservative treatment of the condylar fracture, with physiotherapy and a soft diet. Conclusion: The face is a region of great aesthetic, functional and, therefore, psychosocial importance. Thus, the patient underwent not only treatment of physical damage but also monitoring of the psychological condition aimed at general rehabilitation.-

dc.description.resumoObjetivo: Relatar um caso clínico de tentativa de feminicídio resultando em fratura de mandíbula. Relato de caso: Paciente com 46 anos de idade, do sexo feminino, sem comorbidades, compareceu ao Serviço de Cirurgia Traumatologia Bucomaxilofacial do Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul após agressão física e estupro. Ao exame físico o paciente apresentou edema em face acompanhado de equimose e escoriações associado a alteração oclusal e dor aos movimentos mandibulares. A tomografia computadorizada da face revelou fraturas em corpo mandibular esquerdo e cabeça condilar contralateral. O tratamento foi de redução e fixação da fratura de corpo mandibular associado a tratamento conservador de fratura condilar, com fisioterapia e dieta branda. Conclusão: A face é uma região de grande importância estética, funcionar e, logo, psicossocial. Assim, a paciente, a paciente foi submetida nao apenas ao tratamento dos danos fisicos para um acompanhamento do quadro psicológico voltados para a reabilitação geral.pt_BR
