dc.description.abstractThis study aims to understand the importance of interactions and play in early childhood education, specifically for children aged 4 to 5 years. The central issue addresses the relevance of these activities for the integral development of chil-dren. To achieve the general objective, the specific objectives were defined as: relating interactions and early childhood education for young children; relating play and early childhood education for young children; and relating interactions and play with the Historical-Cultural Theory. Methodologically, a bibliographic research was conducted, using sources such as the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), and the UFMS CPan repository. The descriptors used were "Early Chil-dhood Education and interactions," "Early Childhood Education and play," and "Early Childhood Education and Historical-Cultural Theory." Texts published between 2018 and 2023 in Portuguese, containing the descriptors in their titles, were selected. The analysis of the texts was inspired by Bardin's (1977) content analysis, categorizing the relevant themes. The study concludes that interactions and play are essential for the development of an integral education for children in early childhood education, as advocated by the Historical-Cultural Theory.-
