TEORIAS MONETÁRIA: Evidências Empíricas para o Brasil no Século XXI

Abstract

This work aimed to verify if the classic, keynesian and monetarist theories, in reference to monetary aspects, are reinforced by brazilian reality during the period between December 2001 to January 2023, which covers the Real money available data by official sources. To achieve the proposed objective, it was made a bibliographic research to identify the correlations indicated by each theory in its monetary aspect and, through a simple correlation test, the results obtained were compared to the theory. It was selected to the correlation test the data about price levels, product, rates and monetary base accordingly to how stated by each theory. The results showed that the correlations of keynesian theory are stronger. In its turns, classic and monetarist theories resulted weak correlations between its variables. Its possible to conclude that keynesian theory is more representative of brazilian reality.
