The increasing consumption of electronic devices has significantly raised the generation of electronic waste, making batteries an increasingly present component in society’s daily life. However, many of these materials are improperly discarded in general waste, vacant lots, and water bodies, contributing to the contamination of soil, water, and ecosystems by heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and nickel.The research was developed through a literature review, using scientific articles, books, legislation, and institutional reports related to the topic of electronic waste, reverse logistics, and environmental education. In addition, an educational intervention was carried out with the participation of the Universidade da Melhor Idade (UMI), linked to the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Três Lagoas campus. The activities consisted of an educational lecture, a discussion circle, and a hands-on workshop for the construction of battery collection containers known as “battery drop boxes.”The results show that most participants were unaware of the risks associated with improper disposal of these materials, especially regarding environmental and public health impacts. During the workshop, significant participation and interest from the students were observed, demonstrating that environmental education actions effectively contribute to awareness-raising and the development of sustainable practices. De esta manera, la actual investigación buscó analizar las propiedades térmicas de dos plazas ubicadas en Três Lagoas - MS. El análisis se basó en la geografía y demografía local y se ancló en la metodología de los Sistemas Clima Urbano (SCU), propuesta por Monteiro (1976). En el mes de julio de 2023, se llevaron a cabo recolecciones sistemáticas de temperatura del aire en horarios sinóticos; sin embargo, el enfoque principal está en el uso de fotografías térmicas como herramienta de análisis de la caracterización térmica de materiales y objetos dispuestos en el entorno de estudio. La interpretación de los datos, procesada a través de software específico, representaciones gráficas y fotografías térmicas, evidenció variaciones térmicas relevantes. Estas variaciones ofrecen comprensiones cruciales sobre la influencia de diferentes elementos en la configuración de los microclimas urbanos en las plazas mencionadas. Palabras Claves: Clima urbano. Population growth driven by migration increased the demand for housing and urban infrastructure, contributing to transformations in urban space and to land appreciation. The research aims to identify, map, and categorize the urban vacant lots in the Colinos neighborhood, classifying them according to their typology and functionality, as well as relating them to real estate speculation and the production of urban space. To achieve this, methodological procedures included a literature review, analysis of secondary data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and satellite imagery, the use of geoprocessing tools in ArcGIS, and fieldwork to survey and document the identified areas.
