Abstract: The recent update to ABNT NBR 8800 introduced significant changes to the design criteria for steel structures, directly
affecting the calculation routines used in professional practice. In this context, this paper presents the development of a
spreadsheet-based computational tool for the structural verification of steel beams in accordance with ABNT NBR
8800:2024. The methodology is based on the study of the current standard, the mathematical modeling of structural
verifications, and the automated implementation of calculations. The obtained results were validated through a
bibliographic example and comparative analyses, comparing the results with the tool's output. The findings highlight
differences in resistance parameters and reinforce the importance of normative updates and the use of a computational tool
that provides greater precision and lower possibilities of manual errors, as well as the practical applicability and ease of
use of the developed tool. It is concluded that the tool is a viable auxiliary resource for professional practice, noting that
the current scarcity of updated technical literature according to the 2024 version limits the performance of more extensive
comparisons at this time.

Abstract: This study addresses the accelerated degradation of the Brazilian road network due to increased cargo traffic and severe weather conditions, proposing the use of modified asphalts as an alternative to extend pavement durability. The primary objective is to conduct a comparative analysis between a conventional asphalt mixture and a tire-rubber modified mixture (wet process, terminal blending type), evaluating their volumetric and mechanical behavior through laboratory tests. The methodology employed Marshall dosage to determine the optimal design binder content for both mixtures, using basaltic aggregates and AB-8 modified binder. Tests included aggregate characterization, particle size analysis (DNIT Range C), stability, flow, and tensile strength. he results demonstrated that the asphalt-rubber mixture presented an "optimal" binder content superior to that of the conventional mixture. This increase is justified by the higher viscosity of the modified binder and the need for a thicker film to coat the aggregates. Notably, the modified mixture achieved superior tensile strength and a higher capacity for elastic deformation (flow) without loss of internal cohesion. It is concluded that the use of asphalt-rubber binder is technically viable and advantageous, providing gains in mechanical performance and environmental sustainability through the final disposal of waste tires.

Abstract: Controlling the asphalt binder content is one of the main parameters for ensuring the structural performance and durability
of flexible pavements, since deviations in dosage compromise the mechanical strength and service life of the mixtures. In
this context, the present study aimed to compare the efficiency of binder extraction in dense asphalt mixtures using three
methods used in Brazil: ignition (Muffle furnace), reflux extraction (Soxhlet), and centrifugation (Rotarex). Additionally,
a comparative analysis of the results obtained by the ignition method was performed in two different laboratories to evaluate
the reproducibility of the test. Test specimens molded with 30/45 Petroleum Asphalt Cement (PAC), classified in the C
granulometric range, with a design content of 5.4%, adopted as a reference value, were analyzed. The tests followed the
current technical standards (DNIT and ABNT), evaluating the contents obtained and their deviations from the reference.
The granulometry of the aggregates after extraction was also evaluated to identify possible degradation or loss of fines, in
addition to the operational time of each procedure. The results indicated variations between the methods, including between
the muffles of the two laboratories. The ignition method stood out for its lower variability and greater proximity to the
reference value. The Rotarex method presented binder content values higher than the actual ones, possibly associated with
incomplete extraction of the binder and loss of fine material during the test, while the Soxhlet method required longer
operating time and presented greater dispersion in the data. It is concluded that the choice of procedure should consider
technical accuracy and operational, environmental, and safety aspects, with the muffle furnace being a robust alternative
for technological control of pavements.
