Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the microbial contamination of pacifiers in vitro
and the efficacy of four diferents disinfection solutions (0,12% chlorexidine, hygienic
bucal spray, própolis extract and mineral water plus detergent). The pacifiers were
contaminated with Candida albicans (n= 60), Staphylococcus aureus (n=60) and
Escherichia coli (n=60). After contamination, the pacifiers were disinfected with
solutions, the silicone área were cutted and putted in saline solution and after
inoculated in BHI. Data obtained for microorganisms counts were expressed as colonyforming units per millilitre (CFU/mL) and analysed for Kruskal Wallis and post - test
Bonferroni. All tested solutions were able to significantly reduce contaminated
pacifiers, however, the most effective reduction in Candida albicans, Staphylococcus
aureus and Escherichia coli were observed after treatment with hygienic bucal spray
in comparison to the others solutions mineral water plus detergente, 0,12%
chlorexidine and propolis extract. The all solutions were effective of pacifiers
disinfection.

Abstract: After the advent of better radiographic images, such as conical beam
tomography, new implantation techniques were created. The technique of computerguided implants is an example of how technology can help both the dental surgeon
and improve the safety of treatment for the patient. However, new technologies have
been studied and tested to improve standards of accuracy, patient comfort, and
predictability of implant treatment. This study intends, through a literature review, to
go through the concepts already established in guided virtual surgery as well as to
highlight the new technologies employed in the area, since this may indicate a trend
in the field of implantology.

Título: Influência da arginina na permeabilidade dentinária de um sistema adesivo
Abstract: Considering that the dentin permeability has relevant clinical implications and
may jeopardize the success of adhesive procedures, it is essential to study substances
that reduce this permeability and its deleterious effects. The objective of the study was
to measure the occlusive capacity of arginine-based substances, prior to the
application of AdperTM Single Bond 2 adhesive system (3M ESPE), through the
evaluation of dentin permeability. A total of 55 dentin discs with a thickness of 1.5 mm
were randomly distributed in 5 groups (n=11). After conditioning with 37% phosphoric
acid for 15 seconds, the maximum permeability (Lp Max) was obtained. Subsequently,
the specimens received the application of the substances proposed according to the
groups: CTRL - without substance; ARG - Arginine solution 8%; ARGC - Arginine
solution 8% and calcium carbonate 0.15%; nARG - Nanosilica suspension
incorporated with arginine 8% and nSI - Suspension of nanosilica. The disks treated
with the occlusive substances were subjected to permeability assessment (Lp1), then
applied the adhesive system and a new permeability reading was performed (Lp2).
Occlusive substances reduced permeability, but there was no difference between
groups before and after the application of the adhesive system. In the ARG (Wilcoxon
test, p = 0.007), ARGC (p = 0.014) and nSI (p = 0.032) groups, the application of the
adhesive system helped to further reduce permeability. The nARG group showed a
significant reduction in dentin permeability compared to the group without occlusive
substance (CTRL) (Dunn's posttest, p <0.05). It was concluded that the occlusive
substances were able to reduce the dentin permeability before the adhesive system
application. Among the substances used, the previous use of nanosilica incorporated
with 8% arginine was more efficient in reducing dentin permeability.

Título: Avaliação das alterações teciduais induzidas pelo ácido hialurônico na papila interdentária de ratos
Abstract: Hyaluronic acid (HA) is well underway in dentistry for the treatment of inflammation,
facial aesthetics, mouth injuries and interdental papilla (IP) filling. The aim of this
study was to evaluate whether HA application in rat IP promotes leukocyte infiltrate
exacerbation and hemorrhage. Fifty-one animals were randomly divided into
experimental group (EG) and control group (CG), all animals received the first
application of the substances (HA and saline solution - SS). GE1 (n = 7), GE2 (n = 9)
and GE3 (n = 9) and GC1 (n = 7), GC2 (n = 9) and GC3 (n = 9) were euthanized at
12-hour experimental times. , 72 hours and 7 days, respectively. GE4 (n = 9), GE5 (n
= 8) and GE6 (n = 9) GC4 (n = 9), GC5 (n = 8) and GC6 (n = 9) received new
application 7 days after the first intervention. and were euthanized at 12 hours, 72
hours and 7 days respectively. Slide evaluation was performed by two previously
calibrated and blinded examiners. In the comparison between GE1 and GE6, the
intensity of leukocyte infiltrate decreased (p <0.005). G1E presented higher intensity
of inflammatory infiltrate than G1C (12h) (p <0.005). In EG there was presence of
mild and moderate hemorrhage when compared to CG (p <0.005). When comparing
GC with GE at the same experimental times, there was a statistical difference
between the groups G1C and G1E (p = 0.0217), G2C and G2E (p <0.005) and G3C
and G3E (p <0.005). Between G4C and G4E, G5C and G5E and G6C and G6E there
was no statistical difference (p> 0.05). It was concluded that the application of HA in
rats IP increases the intensity of the leukocyte infiltrate, with predominance of
polymorphonuclear cells, after 12 hours of its application progressively regressing
until the 14th day. Haemorrhage caused by HA application was histologically lighter
and more moderate when compared to saline solution, and there was a greater
presence of hemorrhage in the groups that received only one HA application.
