Abstract

The human activities have been altering the groundwater quality. This variation includes the pesticides, which represent a pollution source and are toxic for the aquatic life offering risks for the population and being a huge threat to public health. Despite the severe prohibition, the organochlorine pesticides are still found in the environment due to their high physico-chemestry stability. The aim of this work was to evaluate methodology for the determination of organochlorine pesticides residues and trihalometanos in water. In the chromatography analyze was utilized the high-resolution gas chromatography system with mass spectrometry (GCRH/MS). The analyzed water samples were taken from Dourados River, water source that supplies Dourados city, region with crop production, such as soybean and corn culture. The pesticides determination was done by solid phase extraction (SPE) and in the sampling areas the water was extracted before and after water treatment. The organochlorines were: Heptachlor, Dieldrin, op’DDT, pp’DDT, trans-Chlordane, cis-Chlordano, Hexachlorobenzene e 2,4,6 Trichlorofenol. The trihalometanos Chloroform, Bromodichloromethane, Dibromodichloromethane and Bromoform determinations were made by the purge and trap system, in the water samples in Dourados River, in the distribution system.
