Abstract
This undergraduate thesis presents the results of a study conducted with 22 final-semester students from the Biological Sciences – Teaching Degree program at the Federal University in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The general objective of the study was to investigate these graduating students' perceptions regarding their prospects for a teaching career, specifically whether they intended to pursue teaching upon graduation.
Methodologically, the study employed a qualitative exploratory approach, using online questionnaires via Google Forms. Based on the students' responses, it was observed that most of them did not initially intend to become teachers when they entered the program. However, after experiencing different formative spaces throughout their studies, about half of the participants expressed an intention to pursue a teaching career by the end of the course.
According to the respondents, the teaching degree program already prepares them for the teaching profession. However, they believe the course should include more school-based activities, as this is considered a crucial factor in teacher training.
