Abstract
Bridges and other special engineering structures play an essential role in road infrastructure, requiring their design to consider not only structural aspects but also the hydraulic behavior of the crossed watercourses. In this context, the present study aimed to perform the hydraulic modeling of the proposed bridge over the Ribeirão Brioso, located on the MS-320 highway, using the HEC-RAS software to evaluate the hydraulic capacity of the structure under the design discharge conditions. To define the hydrological conditions of the study area, the watershed was delineated using SRTM data processed in Global Mapper and subsequently refined in Civil 3D, allowing the determination of the main physiographic characteristics of the basin. Based on these data, the design hydrograph was developed using the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) method, considering a 100-year return period. The hydraulic modeling was carried out under unsteady flow conditions, incorporating the channel geometry, bridge characteristics, Manning's roughness coefficients, and the hydraulic parameters required for the simulation. The results allowed the evaluation of the maximum water surface elevation, flow velocities, hydraulic regime, and the effects caused by the presence of the bridge structure. Therefore, this study highlights the importance of integrating hydrological methods, geospatial technologies, and computational hydraulic modeling for the assessment of bridge crossings, contributing to the safe and efficient design of road infrastructure.
