Abstract
In a context marked by digitalization and social inequalities, libraries face significant challenges, such
as the reduction in the number of units in Brazil. This work proposes a preliminary project for the new
headquarters of the Dom Aquino Corrêa Municipal Library in Naviraí-MS, aiming to overcome the
limitations of the current space, which does not adequately meet the community's demands. The new
project seeks to create an accessible, functional, and innovative environment that promotes social
inclusion and coexistence. The theoretical framework emphasizes the role of libraries as agents of social
transformation, highlighting the need for architecture that reflects their multiple functions. Strategies
for universal accessibility and principles of bioclimatic architecture are fundamental to ensuring
comfort and autonomy for users. The research included the application of questionnaires to the
community, revealing the demand for an expanded collection, study spaces, and improvements in
environmental comfort. The results indicate that the new library should be a dynamic and welcoming
space, capable of stimulating learning and knowledge exchange. Thus, the project aims not only to
revitalize the library but also to reinforce its role as an essential pillar in the formation of a more
inclusive and informed society.
