Avaliação das Águas Superficiais dos corpos hídricos urbanos na cidade de Campo Grande-MS, utilizando Índice de Qualidade das Águas

Abstract

The aim of this study is evaluate the surface water in the main urban Streamlets of the Campo Grande City – MS, applying IQAHorton and IQAPrati, IQACetesb, IQAIAP, IQAIVA and the IQAIET indexes, adapted by Cetesb. The sample points summed 29 places, in four stages, one in each season, completing a hydrological cycle from April 2004 to January 2005. IQAIAP is the index that gathers the major number of environment parameters and the surface water quality indicates the need of urban planning and actions to minimize the pollution in the waters on the following critical distance: downstream of all the streamlet Anhanduizinho affluent streamlets, just as Imbirussu streamlet in the Pantanal garden and downstream of the Industrial District, the streamlet Lagoon downstream of the Buriti Streamlet, the Sóter streamlet, the Cabaça streamlet, the Bálsamo streamlet from the upstream of the mouth of Lageado streamlet, just as aquatic life preservation index to survivor, protection and environmental preservation in the urban perimeter output. The results show the necessity of information about the environment and the society growth concern that are fundamental in the process of public power decision making to assure a life quality to the population, just as the preservation and protection of the environmental to the present and future generations.
