Terminalidade, ensino médico e cuidados paliativos: um estudo reflexivo

Abstract

This is a reflective article about the need to introduce palliative care and strategies to be implemented as a discipline in undergraduate medical courses. Methods: Descriptive study, reflective type, elaborated through research of scientific production, using the descriptors “Palliative care”, “terminality”, “teaching” and “medical”. Results: The findings allow reflection on the need to discuss and implement the discipline palliative care in the curriculum, with theoretical teaching and practical internship fields, in order to prepare future professionals to care in this context. CONCLUSION: It is essential to adopt strategies for the involvement of society regarding the still unknown topic, in addition to the implementation of mandatory longitudinal teaching of palliative care in the curriculum.
