Abstract

This paper analyzes the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its sustainable-development guidelines within the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The study examines how the Court has incorporated the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into both its normative framework and its practical activities, taking into account internal resolutions, programs, and technological tools. First, it explores the conceptual and historical evolution of human rights and sustainability, as well as the interconnection between them, establishing the relevance of the 2030 Agenda. Next, it details the historical landmarks, the principles of the 2030 Agenda, and Brazil’s process of accession. The general objective of the study is to assess the ways in which the 2030 Agenda has been embedded in the STF’s work, by examining Resolution No. 710/2020, the Court’s strategic plans, and concrete initiatives such as the “Agenda 2030 at the STF” hotsite and the RAFA 2030 artificial-intelligence tool, which classifies judicial proceedings according to the SDGs. To this end, a qualitative methodology is employed, using the deductive method to analyze the intersections between the theoretical framework and the STF’s concrete actions, supported by bibliographic and documentary review. The research concludes that the STF has progressively incorporated the 2030 Agenda, achieving advances in institutionalization, transparency, and technological innovation. However, challenges remain, such as the need for deeper integration of the SDGs into judicial reasoning, the enhancement of qualitative monitoring, and the effective transversalization of the Agenda across all dimensions of the Court’s activities.
