    <title>Lobectomia pulmonar total por adenocarcinoma pulmonar de padrão acinar em lobo caudal direito em canino</title>
    <link>https://repositorio.ufms.br/handle/123456789/13844</link>
    <description>Título: Lobectomia pulmonar total por adenocarcinoma pulmonar de padrão acinar em lobo caudal direito em canino
Abstract: This study aims to report the activities carried out during the mandatory&#xD;
supervised internship in Veterinary Medicine and to describe the clinical case of a&#xD;
dog submitted to total pulmonary lobectomy due to acinar-type pulmonary&#xD;
adenocarcinoma. The internship was divided into two stages: the first was conducted&#xD;
in the Anesthesiology and Veterinary Emergency Medicine Department of the&#xD;
Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, which allowed&#xD;
the monitoring of emergency care, anesthetic procedures in routine surgeries, and&#xD;
sedations for imaging and laboratory procedures. The second stage took place in the&#xD;
Small Animal Surgical Clinic Department of the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal&#xD;
University of Uberlândia, providing the opportunity to follow clinical-surgical&#xD;
consultations and to participate in surgical procedures of varying complexity, as well&#xD;
as to assist in the pre- and postoperative management of patients. The case report&#xD;
refers to a 13-year-old Shih-Tzu dog with a history of chronic coughing and&#xD;
hemoptysis, diagnosed through imaging exams with a pulmonary mass in the right&#xD;
caudal lobe consistent with primary neoplasia. Intercostal thoracotomy and total&#xD;
pulmonary lobectomy of the right caudal and middle lobes were performed.&#xD;
Histopathological examination confirmed an acinar-type pulmonary adenocarcinoma&#xD;
with features compatible with malignancy. This study reinforces the importance of&#xD;
integrated action between clinical practice, anesthesiology, and surgery, as well as&#xD;
the role of early detection and surgical intervention as key factors in prognosis. It is&#xD;
concluded that the experience acquired during the internships was essential for&#xD;
technical and scientific development, and that surgical excision remains the treatment&#xD;
of choice for primary pulmonary neoplasms in dogs.

    <title>AÇÃO ANTIMICROBIANA DO EXTRATO DE AROEIRA (Schinus terebinthifolius)</title>
    <link>https://repositorio.ufms.br/handle/123456789/13690</link>
    <description>Título: AÇÃO ANTIMICROBIANA DO EXTRATO DE AROEIRA (Schinus terebinthifolius)
Abstract: This study presents the activities developed during the mandatory veterinary internship and the research project evaluating the antimicrobial action of Schinus terebinthifolius (aroeira) extract. The internship was conducted in two stages: Clinical Pathology at the Diagno Vet Veterinary Laboratory and Bacteriology at the Veterinary Bacteriology Laboratory (LABAC–FAMEZ/UFMS), totaling 480 hours. Activities included sample reception, pre-analytical evaluation, execution of hematological, biochemical, parasitological and microbiological exams, identification of microorganisms using classical and automated methods, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. The research project aimed to assess the in vitro antimicrobial activity of the aqueous extract of Schinus terebinthifolius against bacterial isolates obtained from clinical cases of otitis and dermatitis in small animals. The extract was tested using the disk diffusion method, and the results indicated inhibitory activity against clinically relevant bacteria, including Staphylococcus pseudintermedius and Gram-negative bacilli, although with variable intensity depending on the microorganism. The findings reinforce the importance of laboratory diagnostics in veterinary practice and highlight the potential of plant-derived products as complementary therapeutic tools in the context of increasing antimicrobial resistance.

    <description>Título: ESTÁGIO OBRIGATÓRIO EM SAÚDE PÚBLICA E DEFESA SANITÁRIA E TRABALHO DE CONCLUSÃO DE CURSO: ASSOCIAÇÃO ENTRE CARACTERÍSTICAS DE CARCAÇA E EFICIÊNCIA REPRODUTIVA EM NOVILHAS NELORE.
Abstract: Reproductive efficiency is one of the main determinants of productivity in&#xD;
beef cattle. It is modulated by genetic and nutritional factors that influence the&#xD;
body composition of females and, consequently, reproduction. This study analyzed&#xD;
the relationship between carcass variables and pregnancy rate in Nelore heifers,&#xD;
using ultrasonography as the method for measuring body composition. Data from&#xD;
659 Nelore females were used, aged between 18 and 36 months, including body&#xD;
weight (kg), ribeye area (REA, cm²), subcutaneous fat thickness (SFT, mm), and&#xD;
rump fat thickness (RFT, mm). Logistic regression models indicated a significant&#xD;
effect of body weight and SFT (p &lt; 0.05) on the probability of pregnancy. There&#xD;
was a negative trend for body weight and a positive trend for SFT. This indicates&#xD;
that lighter animals with greater subcutaneous fat deposition, meeting an&#xD;
early-maturing biotype, have a higher probability of becoming pregnant when&#xD;
compared to animals of the same age. In contrast, REA and RFT did not show a&#xD;
significant effect, suggesting that muscle development, evaluated by REA, and fat&#xD;
deposition in the rump region have a secondary influence on the fertility of females&#xD;
within the age range evaluated in this study. Despite the limitations resulting from&#xD;
the lack of standardization of age and, consequently, physiological condition of the&#xD;
animals in the dataset used, the results demonstrated a relationship between body&#xD;
weight and fat deposition in the carcass with the pregnancy rate. Females, within&#xD;
the age range evaluated, with lower body weight and greater subcutaneous fat&#xD;
deposition tend to present higher pregnancy rates.
