Abstract: Yerba mate contains bioactive compounds (such as caffeine and chlorogenic acid) capable of stimulating lipolysis and sparing muscle glycogen at submaximal exercise intensities; however, the literature lacks evidence regarding its potential sports effects. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of yerba mate on energy substrate oxidation during running. In a randomized, double-blind, crossover clinical trial (7-14 day wash-out), 19 runners (10 men and 9 women) consumed 50g of traditional yerba mate (TrrEX) or a placebo with washed yerba mate (TrrPL) infused in cold water (6mL/kg at 10°C). Sixty minutes after beverage ingestion, participants performed an incremental ergospirometry exercise test on a treadmill. Lipid (Lip) and carbohydrate (Cho) oxidation and energy expenditure (EE) at the Start of Effort (L1), Anaerobic Threshold (LAn), and Respiratory Compensation Point (PCR) were calculated from the ratio of oxygen consumed (VO2) to carbon dioxide expired (VCO2), determined by indirect calorimetry (Handymet MDI®). Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, followed by the Student's t-test for dependent samples or the Wilcoxon test for non-normal data to compare conditions, with a significance level of 5%. In the female group, acute Tereré ingestion promoted a statistically significant increase in the lipid oxidation rate solely at the first reading (L1) (TrrEx: 0.134 ± 0.081 g/min vs. TrrPL: 0.074 ± 0.027 g/min; p = 0.036). However, with increasing effort toward the Anaerobic Threshold (LAn) and Respiratory Compensation Point (PCR), this lipolytic effect was suppressed, showing no significant differences between conditions (p &gt; 0.05). In the male group, the intervention did not induce significant modifications in lipid or carbohydrate oxidation or energy expenditure at any of the three evaluated intensities (p &gt; 0.05). Acute consumption of traditionally prepared yerba mate (Tereré) is capable of promoting lipid oxidation and a consequent carbohydrate-sparing effect in trained women.

    <title>QUALIDADE DE VIDA EM IDOSOS PRATICANTES DE MUSCULAÇÃO: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA INTEGRATIVA</title>

    <description>Título: QUALIDADE DE VIDA EM IDOSOS PRATICANTES DE MUSCULAÇÃO: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA INTEGRATIVA
Abstract: Aging is a natural process involving physiological and functional changes that can impact individuals' quality of life. In this context, regular physical exercise—particularly resistance training—has been identified as a key strategy for promoting healthy aging. This study aimed to investigate the quality of life of older adults who engage in resistance training through an integrative literature review, seeking to understand how this practice contributes to the quality of life of this population. The research involved searches on Google Scholar using the keywords "quality of life," "elderly," and "resistance training" (or "weight training"), focusing on studies published in Portuguese between 2019 and 2024. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, seven articles were selected for analysis. The results demonstrated that regular resistance training is associated with improved quality of life among older adults, contributing to increased muscle strength, functional capacity, autonomy, and independence in activities of daily living. Furthermore, the analyzed studies highlighted benefits regarding physical vitality, well-being, and the maintenance of functional ability throughout the aging process. It is concluded that resistance training serves as a valuable tool for promoting health and quality of life among the elderly population, fostering a more active, healthy, and independent aging experience.

    <title>DESCRIÇÃO DA RELAÇÃO ENTRE A PRÁTICA DA NATAÇÃO E A AUTOIMAGEM CORPORAL EM MULHERES DE CAMPO GRANDE - MS Um Estudo Comparativo entre Mulheres Sedentárias e Ativas</title>

    <description>Título: DESCRIÇÃO DA RELAÇÃO ENTRE A PRÁTICA DA NATAÇÃO E A AUTOIMAGEM CORPORAL EM MULHERES DE CAMPO GRANDE - MS Um Estudo Comparativo entre Mulheres Sedentárias e Ativas
Abstract: ABSTRACT&#xD;
Body image corresponds to the perception that an individual constructs of their own body,&#xD;
being influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors, as well as by the practice of&#xD;
physical activities. Swimming, due to its specific characteristics, may interfere with this body&#xD;
perception, although there are still few studies addressing this relationship in women. Thus, the&#xD;
present study aimed to analyze the relationship between swimming practice and body image&#xD;
perception in women from Campo Grande – MS, comparing swimmers with insufficiently&#xD;
active women. This is a field study with a descriptive design and a quantitative approach. The&#xD;
study included 26 women, divided into two groups: 13 swimming practitioners (G1) and 13&#xD;
insufficiently active women (G2), aged between 19 and 46 years. Body perception was assessed&#xD;
using the Image Marking Procedure (IMP), and the Body Perception Index (BPI) was&#xD;
calculated. For group comparisons, Student’s t-test for independent samples was used, adopting&#xD;
a significance level of 5% (p &lt; 0.05). The results showed a statistically significant difference&#xD;
only for the head variable (p = 0.002), indicating a greater tendency toward hypo-schematia&#xD;
among swimming practitioners. It is concluded that swimming practice may be associated with&#xD;
specific changes in female body perception, especially regarding head perception, and further&#xD;
studies with larger samples are needed to deepen the understanding of this relationship.
